Summer is here and now in all of its gold and gleaming heat. Summer at St. Nicholas is not a time to drift, it is a time to be in touch with much that is excellent.
Our visit with Bishop Carranza was an excellent time. He had a bracing message about duty and dedication which was all the more significant because of the long-standing role of the Church as oppressed in his country.
Our Sunday of Ministry Celebration continues in this Oak Tree with the list of those who do so much in the service of God. Fr. Verdi celebrates his fortieth year as a priest, others continue in their diverse response to God.
CELEBRATION 2002 is almost here. This is a fund-raising event for the parish and it is an outreach opportunity. Please pick up your phone and invite friends. It will be important to hear from you about reservations as soon as possible.
I will be on vacation late in summer. During that time, Fr. Verdi will be priest in charge.
Summer blessings to all.
Father James
